Wilderness House Sugarloaf

Nestled next door to The Rack, the most exciting bar and enjoyable restaurant on the biggest ski mountain in Maine, this Wilderness House specializes in snowboard and snowshoe sales and rentals as well as several retail lines of seasonal gear. Located in the old brewery that was on this site, this small but interesting shop offers all sorts of useful services and specialized equipment. Hang a left on the Access Road off Route 27 and it is the first place you’ll see as you head uphill toward the Loaf. It shares a big wall with The Rack itself, and is easily reachable from the bar via the deck or the basement walkway. A variety of skateboards are available, both standard and long, to get you equipped for the nearby Anti-Gravity Center. Expert boot-fitting and ski and board tuning are done right there at the shop. And there are specialized accessories galore to go with the excellent parkas, gloves and helmets. An assortment of top-notch hiking boots is on display as well, as are sleeping bags and backpacks, for those who plan to take advantage of Crocker and Bigelow and Flagstaff and the countless other delights of the area.
